Fluid Flow Analysis

Shown in Figure 1 is the CAD data of an Aluminum-Die Cast part for cell phones.

We performed an element analysis corresponding to the above mentioned part with a finite difference mesh in order to conduct the fluid flow analysis.  An analysis model for the fluid flow was created exclusively for the Die Cast/pre-processor solidification simulation of the part. The analysis model was modeled from the runner section to the product section.  Divided 547 ways in the X direction, 251 ways in the Y direction, and 78 ways in the Z direction with one edge of 0.255mm.  All together it made a 10,709,166 element mesh. It required about two minutes to divide on a pre-processor.  Shown in Figure 2 is the analysis model of the mesh generation.  The speed of the flow was set to be 10m/sec. at the inlet.

Shown below is the software and hardware environment that was used in the analysis.

CREATING CAD DATA
    Software: SolidWorks
      Hardware: HITACHI FLORA (CPU:PentiumIII600MHz RAM:256MB)

FLUID FLOW ANALYSIS
    Software: ADSTEFAN
      Hardware: COMPAQ DS20E (CPU:667MHz RAM:4GB)

A fluid flow analysis was conducted considering the above mentioned analysis model conditions.

Indicated in Table1 is the required analysis time and memory that was used for the fluid flow analysis.

Table1 Analysis Time and Memory Usage
Analysis Time Memory Used
Fluid Flow Analysis         (w/temp.) 8.5hrs. 367 MB

Illustrated in Figure 3 and 4 are the front and back sides of the fluid flow atmosphere at a specified time.
